No one should be excluded at
the kitchen table

A Pledge for Fairness, Belonging & Flavor

According to the Food Research and Action Center, food insecurity disproportionately impacts the LGBTQ+ community. Many LGBTQ+ individuals struggle to meet basic needs due to systemic barriers such as employment discrimination, housing instability, and family rejection. Even in communities with strong non-discrimination laws, LGBTQ+ people—especially transgender individuals—experience significantly higher rates of poverty and food insecurity than the general population.

I recognize this reality not just as a statistic, but as a human experience.

I grew up with a mother I could call when I didn’t know what was happening in my kitchen—how to stretch a grocery budget, plan meals, or cook with what I had. That kind of guidance, comfort, and shared family meals is something many of us take for granted. For far too many LGBTQ+ individuals, coming out means being forced out—losing not only a home, but also the everyday wisdom, connection, and nourishment that families often provide. No family table. No shared meals. No safe place to land.

Too often, members of the LGBTQ+ community are shunned, judged, or made to feel unsafe—or afraid to show up at events simply to be themselves. That will not be tolerated here.

That is where my table comes in.

I vow to make a difference at my table, your table, and the world’s table. Wayfaring Spoon is committed to creating a space where all people and all cultures are welcome—without fear, without judgment, and without exception. Food is culture. Food is story. Food is connection. And the best tables are richer, more joyful, and more delicious when everyone brings their own flavor.

From this Mama Bear, you’ll find light-hearted food, joyful experiences, laughter, hugs, and nourishment for both body and soul. This is a place of respect, safety, and belonging. Hate, discrimination, or exclusion of any kind has no seat at this table.

Pay It Forward Commitment
Because nourishment should reach beyond my own table, 10% of proceeds from every class are donated to LGBTQ+ and women’s shelters, helping provide food, safety, and support to those who need it most.

There’s a seat for you at my table.
Bring your culture. Bring your story. Bring your flavor.
You belong here—every identity, every culture, every color of the rainbow. 🌈
